Generous recruitment & retention package for the right candidate
Required for September 2017
Eastlea is a fully inclusive, friendly and supportive Community School where employees are valued and developed. You will want to make a real difference to young peoples’ future, be passionate about achievement and standards along with your own professional development and progression.
Behaviour is excellent. Our parents and students have high aspirations and teaching spaces are inviting and well resourced. The school is within walking distance to West Ham, Plaistow, Canning Town and Star Lane stations and is close to the dynamic London Docklands, which can be seen from the schools’ playing field.
In the 2014 OFSTED inspection, Eastlea Community School was judged as ‘good’ where students learn well because they have very good relationships with teachers. They feel that teachers are always there to help them. The Humanities Curriculum Area includes 5 subjects, all of which have improved since 2012. Geography results in the school have increased from 25% [2012] to 84.7 A*-C [2015] although these dipped to 53% in 2016, we are again projected to exceed the National Average this year.
We are seeking to appoint a strong, enthusiastic Geography teacher with a preference for a specialist in Physical Geography. Applications from both experienced and Newly Qualified Teachers are very welcome.
This is an ideal opportunity for shaping the future of teaching and learning with the new GCSE specification. We have created a curriculum aimed at challenging all students and engaging students with the world around. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and creative teacher, who has also had experience teaching other subjects within Humanities. We would welcome a team player who is keen to work collaboratively and contribute to a strong ethos of sharing good practice, resources and ideas. The successful applicant will be committed to raising student’s achievement as a member of the Humanities curriculum team and will play a role in the development of the new GCSE curriculum and in continuing to further raise teaching standards and exam results. The successful candidate would also be expected to share a passion for fieldwork and be able to expand the scope of the Curriculum Team’s fieldwork programme as well as working alongside the Curriculum Team Leader of Humanities to ensure that the results are maintained as we move to the new 9-1 GCSE specification in Geography.
