Join Our Team and Shape the Future of Early Years Education
Sheringham Nursery School and Children’s Centre leads A Brighter Start: East London’s Stronger Practice Hub. The Stronger Practice Hub is funded by the Department for Education as part of their drive to improve quality within early years, ensuring all children have the best start in life
We are an outstanding maintained nursery school with a national reputation for excellence, expertise, and innovation in early years education. As the only maintained nursery school in the country to be both a Research School and a Stronger Practice Hub, we are at the forefront of translating early years research into impactful practice.
Our mission is clear: to put the best bets from research into action, transforming children’s learning, development, and life chances. Our work bridging the gap between evidence and practice has led to the design and delivery of highly successful professional development programmes, increasing demand for our expertise across the sector.
To meet this growing demand, we are expanding our team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, forward-thinking school that is shaping the future of early years education. If you are passionate about making a real difference, we want to hear from you.
We are seeking an exceptional leader to head and coordinate our Early Years Stronger Practice Hub, driving improvements in early years practice and ensuring that key performance indicators set by the Department for Education are consistently met. This role is critical to the continued success and growth of our hub, and we are looking for a candidate who brings proven experience in providing outstanding leadership and management within the early years sector. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for supporting early years professionals, and a strong commitment to ensuring that every child receives high-quality education and care.
This is a full-time position with the option for some remote working. The Early Years Stronger Practice Hub Lead will collaborate closely with the Deputy Headteacher, East London Research School Director, and Nursery team to ensure the hub’s activities align with the broader vision and values of the organisation. The role will also involve developing strong, collaborative relationships with local authority teams and other hubs—such as the English, Maths, Family, and Teaching School Hubs—to coordinate and complement our support.
Visits are warmly welcomed - we would love to meet you and discuss the role. If you would like to arrange a visit, please contact Melissa Prendergast, our Deputy Headteacher who strategically leads the hub and East London Research School on 02085532479 or email melissa.prendergast@sheringham-nur.newham.sch.uk
