Newham PRUs is a high-achieving of two Pupil Referral Units delivering transformative, trauma-informed education. We are looking for a dedicated professional to join our multi-disciplinary team. In this dual-focus role, you will act as a vital link between safeguarding welfare and statutory attendance compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Be a primary point of contact for safeguarding concerns, managing a caseload of students and providing targeted in-class interventions.
- Act as the main interface between the school and Borough Attendance Leads.
- Coordinate statutory attendance data (including persistent absence reports) for the borough, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Monitor and audit attendance registers to ensure coding aligns strictly with DfE regulations and borough expectations.
- Prepare legal documentation for Fixed Penalty Notices or prosecution cases, representing the provision as required.
- Work alongside SEN, Pastoral, and Outreach teams to ensure student safety and well-being are prioritised.
Requirements
Essential:
- Level 2 Literacy & Numeracy
- Experience of Safeguarding/Welfare in education
- Knowledge of DfE Attendance Coding & Regulations
Desirable:
- Level 3 in Youth Work or related field
- Experience in Social Work or Youth Sector
- Experience with legal documentation relating to attendance
