Best Start in Life Strategic Lead
Sheringham Nursery School and Children’s Centre
Salary: PO5 (£41,847 - £44,691)
Sheringham Nursery School leads the Manor Park Community Children’s Centre and is one of the Greater London Authority’s 3 Early Years Hubs. We are delivering Newham’s ambitious and innovative Best Start in Life guarantee to children and their families in this diverse and vibrant neighbourhood. As a result of the promotion of our current postholder, we are looking for a new strategic lead.
This position is about leading the system to improve children’s life chances. You will need to be able to build strategic partnerships with schools, early years settings, our childminder network and others, working with our Early Years Hub. You will have an excellent understanding of Early Help and the skills to train, support and enthuse our team of Best Start in Life Practitioners. You will be ensuring that high quality family support, usually working with early years practitioners, makes a positive difference to the lives of young children and helps to present small problems becoming big issues. You will be responsible for further developing our Parenting Programme, and opportunities for adult learning and help into employment. You will have strong skills in strategic planning and self-evaluation.
We are a highly successful organisation with a strong, values-led approach to our work. We have an energetic, committed and supportive staff team that’s determined to do the very best for every child and family. We have the Gold Award for Professional Development from the UCL Institute of Education, and we can offer you excellent opportunities in this area. Sheringham is the co-leader of the East London Partnership Teaching School Alliance, working on system change for the Early Years in Manor Park and across East London.
