Teacher of Science
MPS - Inner London scale

Required for September 2017

Eastlea is a fully inclusive, friendly and supportive Community School where employees are valued and developed. You will want to make a real difference to young peoples’ future, be passionate about achievement and standards along with your own professional development and progression.

Behaviour is excellent. Our parents and students have high aspirations and teaching spaces are inviting and well resourced.

The school is within walking distance to West Ham, Plaistow, Canning Town and Star Lane stations and is close to the dynamic London Docklands, which can be seen from the schools’ playing field.

In the 2014 OFSTED inspection, Eastlea Community School was judged as ‘good’ where students learn well because they have very good relationships with teachers. They feel that teachers are always there to help them. Science results have increased over the last few years - it is one of the strongest Curriculum areas in the school. Our 2016 exam results were 62.4% for Core Science compared to national average of 52.9%, 82% A*-C for Additional Science compared to national average of 59.7% and Further additional (Triple Science) was 91.3% A*-C compared to national average of 76.9%.

The Science Curriculum Area was refurbished a few years ago, with new laboratories, an open space with ICT resources for students to use and quality teaching resources. The Science Curriculum area is a close knit family which supports one another. This will be a good opportunity to develop your Teaching and Learning skills in a very successful team. We have created a personalised Key Stage 3 curriculum and are currently developing the new Key Stage 4 Curriculum, which aims to build on the students personal achievements, resilience and independent learning, helping them to develop the skills to become successful learners and increasing enjoyment for the subject.

We are looking to appoint a strong, enthusiastic, energetic and creative practitioner with outstanding potential to join our already high quality Science team. The person appointed will be committed to outstanding Teaching and Learning, inspiring the students to reach their full potential and therefore raising student attainment.

A specialism in Physics would be desirable, however any science discipline would be considered.

Applications from both experienced and Newly Qualified Teachers are very welcome.

If you would like the chance to meet our dedicated and supportive team & find out more about our school, please come and visit, we would love to meet you. Alternatively for an informal discussion about this post please contact the school on the above number.
